ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND:
Chemical residues can be found in animal tissues, milk, honey, or eggs after administration of veterinary drugs and medicated premixes, application of pesticides to animals, or consumption of feedstuffs previously treated with agricultural chemicals. Veterinary drugs and pesticides are used routinely in animal production to manage diseases and control parasites, and crop protection chemicals are used in production of animal feeds.

METHODS:
Data extraction was used where literature search was conducted from different papers and were summarized, compare and analysed. This is the review paper depended on literature search and new gaps identified for further research.

RESULTS:
Parasites like ticks have developed resistance against a range of acaricides mainly organophosphate (OP), formamidines (amitraz) and synthetic pyrethroid (SP) and these chemicals are toxic. With this regard, the use of acaricides impose numerous limitations including the selective pressure for the development of more resistant ticks, environmental contamination and chemical residues in food products. Human nutrition depends on meat and animal products, yet they also cause pollution like hormones and pesticides that humans consume. Organochlorine pesticide (OCP) residues can enter the human body by consuming tainted animal tissues, milk, and other dairy products. Infertility, cancer, and liver disorders in animals can result from the application of pesticides & other very harmful chemicals such as dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane (DDT) in crops.

CONCLUSIONS:
Controlling chemical residues in meat and milk requires a multi-faceted approach focused on responsible drug use, strict record-keeping, feed safety, and environmental management. For veterinary medicines intended for administration to food-producing animals, an additional consideration is the safety of edible tissues and products (eg, milk, honey, or eggs) derived from treated animals. However extensive regulatory and monitoring systems need to be established to ensure that chemical residues in food do not constitute an unacceptable health risk.
