INTRODUCTION:
A child exposed to HIV will be considered positive for HIV infection (child living with HIV) when they present a detectable HIV viral load result followed by a detectable proviral DNA test,or two detectable HIV viral load results,the second with a value equal to or greater than 100 copies/mL.Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impairments in communication, social interaction, and behavior. The following study reports the possibility of interference in neurodevelopment caused by exposure to HIV or ARVs; decreases in intellectual, reading, and mathematical skills during early childhood.

OBJECTIVES:
GENERAL:To investigate the neuropsychomotor changes in children exposed to and living with HIV in the State of Sergipe who developed ASD (CEMAR FICHA) between 2006 and 2024.SPECIFIC:To evaluate the mode of delivery (via SINASC-DNV); Use of ART by mothers living with HIV (ART report - first trimester and/or periconceptional);To evaluate the rate of prematurity and low birth weight.

METHODS:
The mother and the children exposed to and living with HIV were evaluated via notification forms from SINAN NET, SINASC, SICLOM, and the municipal electronic medical record.

RESULTS:
The study was conducted between 2018 and 2024, finding 7 children exposed to HIV and 7 children living with HIV with a confirmed diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).The mothers used ART (antiretroviral therapy) during pregnancy or at the time of diagnosis.All children analyzed presented with delayed neuropsychomotor development, low birth weight, and growth alterations.

CONCLUSIONS:
Based on the above, it was possible to affirm that the use of ART and viral exposure favored the confirmation of the diagnosis of ASD in children exposed to and living with HIV during the analyzed period.They presented with low birth weight, leading to delayed neuropsychomotor development, poor growth, and prematurity in 100% of them. It was recommended to train and link them to specialized services.
