ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION:
Climate change is a critical public health threat, triggering extreme weather events, aggravated air pollution, shifted disease transmission patterns and growing health inequities. The World Health Organization urges countries to strengthen climate-health adaptation systems, yet translating scientific evidence into cross-sectoral, sustainable interventions remains a global bottleneck. In response, China has developed systematic policy innovations and technical practices for climate-health adaptation. This session spotlights China’s progress in policy coordination, early warning technologies, behavioral interventions and public communication, aiming to identify replicable models for global knowledge sharing and resilient governance.

METHODS:
Adopting an interactive format, the session convenes experts from public health, climate science and health communication. Discussions cover climate-health governance policies, lifestyle-based risk intervention, heat-health early warning practices, and innovative public communication approaches, integrating presentations, guided dialogue, and audience interaction.

RESULTS:
The session is structured around four core themes. At the policy level, it will review global and Chinese policy frameworks and implementation pathways for climate-health governance, clarifying the evolution and distinctive features of China’s approach. At the technical level, it will examine lifestyle-based intervention strategies and heat-health early warning mechanisms. At the practice level, the session will showcase case studies of heat-health protection in key settings and targeted health communication tools. Cross-sector dialogue seeks to build consensus on an integrated “monitoring–early warning–intervention–communication” framework to bridge knowledge and action.

CONCLUSIONS:
This session will synthesize scalable experience models, identify opportunities and challenges in current practice, and contribute to strengthening climate change and health adaptation systems. The outcomes are intended to provide actionable references for countries and regions to develop and implement context-specific climate and health adaptation strategies, supporting the joint advancement of global climate governance and health equity.
