Mental disorder in the Kadiolo referral health center, Sikasso region from 2022 to 2023

ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION:
Mental health and mental illness do not represent the extremes of a continuum, but rather constitute distinct, although correlated, concepts. Mental health directly influences the personal and social functioning of individuals, justifying the importance of acting upstream of problems to promote mental health.
METHODS:
We have a descriptive cross-sectional study that took place in the reference health center of the Kadiolo health district. We defined a case according to the WHO in 2004, it adopted a definition of mental health that it describes as "a state of well-being in which the person can realize himself, overcome the normal tensions of life, carry out productive and fruitful work and contribute to the life of his community." (1) .
RESULTS:
A total of 121 cases were recorded in the database. The female sex had the large number of cases with 51% of the 121 patients and the male sex 49%. The age group of 20 to 29 years and 30 to 39 years had the highest number of cases 37 and 34 or 31% and 28% respectively followed by 40 to 49 with 13 cases or 11%. The highest number of cases was reported by the district of Kadiolo central and RCI followed by Zegoua with a percentage of 5 0%, 8% and 5% respectively. Acute delusional disorder, schizophrenia and depression were the most observed diagnoses with 25% for the first two and 14% for the last.
CONCLUSIONS:
This analysis allowed us to understand the evolution of mental disorders in the Kadiolo reference center. Women are the most notified with schizophrenia, acute delusional disorder and depression as frequent diagnoses. More resources must be put into mental health for a better quality of life.
