BACKGROUND:
Migration policies play a critical role in shaping access to health care for migrants, particularly in urban informal settlements. In South Africa, young migrants living in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, often face legal, structural, and social barriers to accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, despite constitutional commitments to health equity.

OBJECTIVE:
This study aimes to explore how migration policies influence health care access and lived experiences of young migrants in Diepsloot, with a specific focus on sexual and reproductive health rights.

METHODS:
A qualitative research design will be employed, involving in-depth interviews with young migrants aged 18–29 residing in Diepsloot, as well as key informant interviews with health care providers and community stakeholders. Data will be thematically analyzed to examine policy awareness, documentation status, health system interactions, and experiences of inclusion or exclusion in SRH service delivery. Expected Outcomes The expected outcomes of this research on the role of migration policies in shaping healthcare access and experiences of young migrants in Diepsloot Johannesburg, with a focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, include a comprehensive understanding of how existing policies influence young migrants' ability to access essential health services, identification of key barriers and facilitators within the healthcare system, and insights into the specific reproductive health challenges faced by this population. The study aims to inform policy recommendations to improve health service delivery and ensure the protection of sexual and reproductive rights for young migrants, ultimately contributing to more inclusive, equitable healthcare policies and practices. Additionally, it may reveal gaps in current policies and service provision, fostering awareness among stakeholders and guiding targeted interventions to enhance health outcomes for migrant youth.
