Multidisciplinary Team Practice in Digital Health for Transgender People: experience from a university-based digital health hub

ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION:
access to comprehensive and specialized healthcare remains uneven for the transgender population in Brazil(1), particularly in regions characterized by territorial gaps and limited professional training. Digital health strategies represent a potential approach to reduce inequities, expand access, and support healthcare teams working within the public health system (2).
METHODS:
this study describes the formation and structuring of a digital multidisciplinary care service within the Brazilian public health system, implemented across multiple territories nationwide (3). The initiative focuses on strengthening professional training, facilitating user access to public health services, and enabling digital care for transgender individuals (4). The service offers telehealth modalities including case discussions, telediagnosis, teleconsultation, telemonitoring, teleconsulting, and teleeducation (5). A multidisciplinary team composed of endocrinologists, psychiatrists, gynecologists, nutritionists, psychologists, nurses, and speech-language pathologists coordinates the activities.
RESULTS:
the implementation of the digital service enabled the creation of collaborative networks between specialized professionals and local healthcare teams across diverse regions of Brazil.
CONCLUSIONS:
a digitally mediated multidisciplinary care model is a feasible and scalable strategy to address healthcare disparities affecting the transgender population.
