INTRODUCTION:
The current geopolitical context—characterised by conflict, political polarization, widening inequities, and declining trust in institutions—has profoundly influenced immunization policies and public confidence in vaccines. Advocacy for immunization is increasingly shaped by geopolitical tensions, rapidly evolving misinformation ecosystems, donor dependencies, and unequal power dynamics both between and within countries. In this environment, capacity building is a critical enabler, equipping public health actors with the skills and tools required to advocate effectively for immunization as a public good, grounded in equity, human rights, and evidence-based decision-making.

METHODS:
This interactive workshop will draw on experiences shared by global and regional leaders from the WFPHA International Immunization Policy Taskforce, complemented by lessons learned from public health associations, civil society organizations, and community-based advocates. It will focus on strengthening core advocacy competencies, including political and policy analysis, strategic and risk communication, stakeholder mapping and engagement, countering misinformation, and ethical leadership. Particular attention will be given to context-sensitive capacity-building models, such as peer learning, South–South and cross-regional collaboration, and sustained mentorship, with a strong focus on low- and middle-income country settings.

RESULTS:
Participants are expected to strengthen their ability to navigate complex political environments, engage decision-makers effectively, and communicate the value of immunization to diverse and often skeptical audiences. The workshop will provide a highly interactive space for participants to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and share best practices.

CONCLUSIONS:
In a complex geopolitical landscape, capacity building for immunization advocacy must move beyond short-term training toward sustained, strategic, and equity-oriented approaches. Strengthening advocacy capacity is essential to safeguard immunization gains, advance life-course vaccination, and ensure that immunization policies are driven by public health priorities rather than geopolitical interests. This workshop aims to equip participants with practical tools, knowledge, and networks to strengthen their advocacy efforts in challenging political contexts.
