ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION:
The ongoing armed conflict in the northwest region of cameroon has severely disrupted access to sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents and youth. Conflict related displacement insecurity and economic hardship increase young people’s vulnerability to sexual violence unintended pregnancies unsafe abortions and sexually transmitted infections. Despite these risks, there is limited empirical evidence documenting how the crisis has shaped adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health experiences and service access. This study explores the sexual and reproductive health challenges faced by adolescents and youth in conflict affected communities and identifies community recommended strategies to address these challenges.

METHODS:
This study conducted a secondary qualitative analysis of data collected from community discussion forums held in bamenda northwest cameroon between may and july 2020. A total of 316 community stakeholders participated including youths parents teachers health professionals religious leaders and civil society actors. Data were audio recorded transcribed and analyzed using thematic text analysis to identify key sexual and reproductive health challenges and proposed solutions related to conflict conditions.

RESULTS:
Findings show that conflict related displacement insecurity and prolonged idleness increased adolescents and youth exposure to sexual violence transactional sex and early pregnancies. Disrupted health services and restricted mobility limited access to contraception maternal care and sexual and reproductive health information resulting in increased unintended pregnancies unsafe abortions and untreated infections. Participants also highlighted significant psychological distress among young people. Stakeholders recommended expanding sexual and reproductive health education improving access to services in hard-to-reach areas and creating economic and social engagement opportunities for youth.

CONCLUSIONS:
The armed conflict in northwest cameroon has significantly worsened sexual and reproductive health risks and reduced service access for adolescents and youth. Conflict sensitive youth-centered interventions that integrate sexual and reproductive health services education and livelihood opportunities are urgently needed to address these challenges.
