ntroduction: Neonatal immunization is crucial. Administering BCG and Hepatitis B vaccines before hospital discharge is a key Brazilian strategy to overcome access barriers and achieve high coverage.
METHODS:
Descriptive, retrospective study (Jan-Jun 2025) using national health data systems (SINASC, SI-PNI). Analyzed doses administered in hospitals & primary care versus live births.
RESULTS:
• 4,238 live births recorded. • Coverage: 99.6% for Hepatitis B (4,222 doses) | 98.5% for BCG (4,174 doses). • >99% of doses were administered in the hospital setting before discharge.
CONCLUSIONS:
The intrahospital strategy proved highly effective and sustainable for achieving near-universal neonatal vaccination coverage. This model is essential for controlling vaccine-preventable diseases and should be implemented as core public health policy.
