ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND:
The Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH) was launched in the 2023 WFPHA Congress in Rome. The organisation comprises 7 regional association of schools of public health representing over 500 schools of public health.
METHODS:
a strategic development GNAPH set out its manifesto in 20211 in the context of a global pandemic of COVID19.GNAPH has moved forward projects to improve the quality and quantity and range of public health education.
RESULTS:
case studies of key priorities 1. Workforce development: This is our central priority. We have been lead partners, with WHO and IANPHI in agreeing the public health workforce road map in 20222 and in creating the toolkits endorsed at the World Health Assembly 2024.3 2. Climate: with the Global Consortium for Climate Change and Health Education, we have delivered climate change and health responder courses with 5 regional associations. We are now developing communities of practice in each WHO region4 3. Law and ethics: GNAPH has developed a public health ethics and law network (PHELN) and hosts its materials on our website (by May 2026). The JPH supplement on public health ethics and law was compiled by authors from GNAPH member institutions.5 The Riegelman GNAPH This is Public Health, has now had three rounds of international project in more than 50 academic institutions, We are also developing work on health diplomacy.6 We are also committed to supporting and developing our regional associations.7
CONCLUSIONS:
This workshop will present the current work of GNAPH and it will present examples of the work of some of our members in the WHO Regions, namely Africa, USA, Europe. There will be opportunities to influence the further development of GNAPH and our 5year strategy to increase the effectiveness of public health education, to protect and improve the health of the people we serve.
