ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION:
This commentary explores how white supremacy and capitalism in the United States have systematically separated Black communities from their ancestral spiritual practices and relationship to land, and how those connections are now being reclaimed through land-based healing, ritual, and community care.

METHODS:
The piece braids personal narrative, historical analysis, and African diasporic philosophies, including Ubuntu and Sankofa, to examine how the violence of colonization and capitalism sought to sever Black people from nature and spirit. Drawing from indigenous wisdom and Black ecospirituality, I argue that spiritually-rooted activism and organizing are essential to our collective healing and future liberation.

RESULTS:
The essay highlights the wisdom of women of the African diaspora in the United States who are re-membering ancestral knowledge in profoundly transformative ways. I emphasize Ubuntu and Sankofa as wisdom that can guide us toward justice, joy, and a healthy world, offering a perspective that is both urgent and hopeful in a time of profound social and ecological disruption.

CONCLUSIONS:
Ubuntu and Sankofa are our collective responsibility. In this moment, we are being called to model Ubuntu and Sankofa in our homes, in our relationships, in our workplaces, and in our communities. In this era, we are being called to recognize the Divine in nature, in the planet, and in each other. As climate disasters unfold, genocide goes unchecked, fascism expands, and capitalism poisons and starves, we have to make a choice. We either give in to and are consumed by these systems failing all around us. Or we can choose to love and care for each other by practicing Sankofa and Ubuntu, and by fortifying our minds, bodies, and spirits. It is time for us to remember and practice Spirit-led organizing guided by the wisdom of our elders and ancestors.
